FOUNDERS BACKGROUNDWheelchair Football Equipment has been founded by W G (Bill) Lupton. Bill’s ambition is to ensure Wheelchair Football is played by as many impaired persons as possible, World Wide, and is proud to be the founder sponsor of The Wheelchair Football Association (The WFA). A main objective of Wheelchair Football Equipment is to help create the game of Wheelchair Football, using both manually propelled wheelchairs and powerchairs, at local authority leisure centres, in conjunction with The WFA, The FA, football clubs and charities, supported by local authority social services. One of The WFA’s objectives is to provide/procure play equipment to their required standards. Wheelchair Football Equipment go to great lengths to ensure that the B(Ball)-Chairs and attachments are manufactured to these standards. They also negotiate with wheelchair manufacturers to obtain the correct chairs at bulk purchase prices, on behalf of clubs/teams.
At his time of life Bill has no wish to retire and has no need or desire to ‘profit’ from the sale of disabled football play devices and therefore any / all profit generated by WFE will be re-invested in expanding the game. The play devices have Worldwide Patent cover. Bill has offered to donate
the English patent rights to The WFA, also acting as general secretary/treasurer
of The FA (free of salary), to implement the games development plan, supported
by The FA and its human resources.

Bill has also developed and founded Gobal Stadiums. Wheelchair Football play devices were developed from the amusement ride at Gobal Stadiums using the same design criteria in conjunction with the strict Code of Practice that is used in the amusement ride industry. Gobal is multi-ball football, using standard footballs. Bill Lupton also founded and developed Econ Engineering, Ripon, into the major supplier of ‘Winter Road Maintenance Vehicles’ (Salt spreaders) supplied to every local authority contractor, (please see www.econ.uk.com), now taken over by his sons. Econ Engineering Ltd sponsor WFE by paying the running costs of the office (and WFA’s office) and the workshops, apart from the rent, which W G Lupton donates. Bill Lupton can be contacted at:
